Building @notakuhq and some @framer plugins

Hey there! I’m Tommy, the creator of the Migrate plugin, designed to help you quickly transform Framer templates into personalized websites. I’m excited to share my journey and how I can make your website-building experience faster and more enjoyable!

What Does the Migrate Plugin Do?

Migrate quickly transforms Framer templates into personalized websites, making it a must-have tool for anyone who has purchased a template and wants to get their site up and running without the hassle of manual customization. Just bought a Framer template? Great! Now comes the tricky part—making it your own. That’s where Migrate steps in.

Whether you’re moving from an old site or starting fresh, Migrate has you covered. Even if you just have rough notes, you can use the plugin to turn a template into your unique website in no time.

A Little About Me

I’m the developer behind Migrate and a bootstrapped founder of notaku.so, a tool for creating docs websites from Notion. I’m passionate about building tools that boost productivity and simplify complex processes.

The Inspiration Behind Migrate

I had to migrate a Framer template myself, and there was no quick way to use AI to make this process faster. I noticed many template creators offered “made for you” or “template personalization” services, and I wanted to automate this process to make it faster and more affordable for everyone.

Why I Built the Plugin

I built Migrate to save you time and reduce frustration. Let’s face it: customizing templates can be a real challenge. With Migrate, we take your content and quickly transform your new Framer template into a personalized site. No need to learn Framer in-depth or hire someone to replace all the placeholder text. We even ensure that all those footer links point to your own pages, not the template creator's!

Overcoming Challenges

One significant challenge I faced while building the plugin was getting the AI to consistently return good results. It took many iterations and the implementation of techniques like “chain of thought” for each piece of text. We had to teach the AI to reason why the migrated content was appropriate for each section and provide examples of good generations. Additionally, formatting the input content into XML required writing a lot of code. But these challenges ultimately led to a more robust and reliable plugin.

I’m excited to be part of the Framer community and can’t wait to share more about what we’re building.
